In the apps data log it says the engraving has started but it isnt actually engraving. This happens at all baud rates from 300 to 230400bps. If you are like me and ordered a cheap arduino nano clone from a chinese website like aliexpress or banggood, chances are that they come with the cheaper CH340 USB to Serial chip. If I type quickly, the chip appears to lock up and no more data is echoed. No serial device. As a linux user (Ubuntu / Linux Mint 17) I had difficulties with the cheap Nano with the CH340G chip getting it to work properly - the upload of any code didn't work at all.

The NodeMCU board I’m using (from HiLetGo) actually uses a 2102 chip rather than one of the CH340-series chips; once I installed that driver, all went well.Upgraded to Sierra and previously well-behaved Wemos D1 mini (clone?)
